1966 Shelby Cobra 1 of 1 Barrett-Jackson, a bit of that provenance thing

The rarest of the rare 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 Super Snakes sells for millions.

2 Were Made, one went to Bill Cosby, he sold it to some dude that died in his.

I always thought they were a bad idea. In 66-67 I was seeing the early Shelby GTs in Colo Spgs where we had a lot of autocross events and rallies. The 350GTs were always faster in both events than the 500GTs because they were BALANCED, not nose heavy and didn’t have all that big bore torque to try and keep hooked up to the pavement. Also a buddy of mine had a new fastback mustang with a special order 390 engine and I drove it a few times…seemed like it suffered from the same problem, just not as badly.

Yeah,bad idea in my book.

A lot of that’s been solved no× with new tire technology.

You can make lots of cars pull 1g in a corner now, simply by tire choice.

Hanging an engine out over the rear axle is a dumb idea too, but Porsche seems to make it work somehow.

Apples and oranges. I’ve driven a few Porsches…they work great once you figure out how they work. But a nose heavy RWD car with too much torque is never gonna work very well IMHO…except maybe on the dragstrip.

There’s a reason The front suspension on Corvettes are in front of the engine.

Solves that problem

No, it ameliorates it but does not “solve” it.
Also, your claim is bullshit in that the engine is only partly behind the front axle.

My engine is behind the axle centerline.
So…
