Not sure what Limpdicksix is on about… but the rifle isn’t the same thing that was implemented years ago. Numerous changes have been made to both the round and weapon system.
Meanwhile the AK is still the inaccurate, loose weapon system with a round that doesn’t perform as good. But it’s reliable.

I’m very partial to the FN FAL battle rifle in .308 which has been around for a long time now. I’m also partial to the Dragunov SVD63 sniper rifle in 7.62 x 54 which was the AK’s big brother five decades ago, although I haven’t had much experience with it.
There is probably newer stuff that I don’t even know about… But to take your question literally, if I WERE a rifle (instead of what would I prefer to carry) I’d probably be a vintage Winchester M70 in 7x57 Mauser, with good optics. I’m that Old Skool.
