First bear of the season today. Bald Eagle, Osprey, early bird Warblers, American Black Ducks, Lesser Scaup, Red Squirrel.
I checked on the Swam this afternoon, and was saddened to find the female had returned without a mate. If you recall I had mentioned her partner had vanished mysteriously last summer, and she raised the 2 cygnets alone. She was swimming around the pond calling for her lost partner - receiving no reply. It made me very sad to think she will be alone. Perhaps the young ones will return home.
