M2s are fully automatic. The ball turret has 2. The ball turret itself is electronic.
Naturally the M2s are automatic, as they are in ALL forms. The turret is electrically driven (servo-mechanical) as is the quad fifty vehicular or stationary mounts, although both of the quad type mounts can also be operated manually which the ball turret cannot.
I think “electronic” is the wrong word for describing the ball turret on a WW2 airplane. Gun turrets that are radar-assisted or remotely operated can be said to be “electronic.”
