I Asked A Question A While Back

I wanted to know if you could steam bell peppers to help remove the skin, nobody seemed to know. I just tried it and it doesn’t seem to work very well. Not ruined but it didn’t work the way that I had hoped.

What is your goal in wanting to remove the skin from a bell pepper?

To get rid of the vitamins.

You can slow roast them. I don’t remember the question or I would have answered.

A lot of vegetables with waxy type “skin” aren’t digested by the gut…so, it’s not bad to remove it.

Like Oak said.

Did you try poaching them?

Put them in boiling water for about 45-60 seconds, then dunk them in ice water. Remove skin.

That’s a way to peel tomatoes that is pretty common.

That’s also a good idea.

The roasting may give them a smokey flavor he may not want.

If you want to remove the skins of green peppers more easily, use an open flame or grill them. As the skin blackens, turn them. When fully blackened, run the under hot water and the skin will peel off .

You’re welcome

I was trying to peel them before I buttered and roasted them. I have been roasting 1/2 inch slices of beefsteak tomatoes, 1/2 inch large sweet onion slices, roasted red bell halves and portobello mushrooms.

The idea is to create juicy, healthy toppings for lean hamburgers.

I love this combo but it is a lot of work.
