Actually tomorrow…June 30, 1953, the first production Vette rolled off the assembly line in Flint. There had been only one pre-production car, a concept vehicle for the NY Auto Show earlier in the year.

Only 300 Corvettes were made for the 1953 model year - all Polo White with red interiors. All had the Blue Flame six at 216 CID, with dual carbs and a split exhaust manifold…and all had the two-speed Powerglide trans.

65 years later, the Vette is the longest US car model in continuous production.

To be fair though, Corvette didn’t produce a 1983 for the public.
