Summer of Love, redux

I store my favourite digital photos in albums because you can print as many copies as you want and put hard copies on the shelf as well.

I rue nothing!

Anyone who’s ever tried to archive color negatives can tell you that a thumb drive or a CD-R is a better and more durable storage medium. But it does need to be a backup for a hard copy on good paper.

And to archive images, I generally convert them to TIF or GIF because JPGs sometimes just fail or go corrupt with too many file transfers.

And I’m saying it’s time to go camping.

Yer going camping?

I won’t be able to. You’ll be in my tent.

srsly -

I always tried to go camping in the least amount of asshole season

but, they are ever present

I found the piece I was looking for…not a FB post, but a poem in a published book.

Dominic Albanese
from Then N Now

Started out, innocent
fun, heady times
those mid 60s
in Frisco (the wags hate it called that)

smoke a few dubes
fall in love couple
times a day
find these really
nice restaurants
from, China Town
to the outer Mission
Woy Goy Loy
or El Zocalo
man, roast pork, with cabbage
or papapussa with cheese
all for cheap

Music was yet to
become
this bizznezz, full of fast money
and death

so it was free in the park
with see through blouses
incense pepper mint patchouli oil
all before “the death of hip”
that was a show
coffin pall bearers down Haight St.
tour buses that came from Iowa,
only to be laughed at

Then the real sorrow
the hard drugs
tons of em
I will digress here

there was this one guy (David O Brown)
with cafe o lait skin and light eyes
a bass player, who I swear girls would
swoon faint and give house keys to
him as he walked by
(memory burp of those days)

Poor little Amy, Julie, who changed their names
to “sunray” or “light flower” wound up
turning tricks for dime bags
up and down Eddy St
or the truck load weed dealers
upmarket them self to cocaine
in this “American Nightmare”
South American guys started
to move onto Nob Hill or Pacific Heights
with cash machines and Ferrari cars
I will stay out of my personal drama
(I have written it so many times it bores me)

But in my tribute to HOWL
I saw some of the finest minds
softest skinned bright eyed flower children
turn into vagrants hollow faced vampire
night walking with one word
vocabularies, MORE, MORE, MORE

If I am allowed to live lots more years
I will never drink enough water
to produce enough tears to
cry long enough for PROGRESSIVE DESTRUCTION
that
was
started
in those years

Nice article here about the Marin County outdoor event that sort of started off the summer. Nice bunch of short interviews.

LMAO That makes it all the more fun to call it that.

That word still makes my skin crawl.

Sorry, it’s in this one too. Try to overlook it, please.

WAS
a moment one time
coming back to
Frisco from Marin
on a motorcycle
clearest day ever
and I said to my self
staring at that pretty city
there will never be a place time an
set of things both happen and felt
like this ever again
I
wish the fuck
I had
not been
