THE BLESSINGS OF LIBERTY
(the new revolution)

Why is America an island of relative prosperity and peace in a world of hunger and death and destruction? Why do most ordinary lives here enjoy relative comfort. Why do we enjoy our lives, more than many, if not most of the people on the planet?.
Aside from the millions of hungry, homeless, ill, suffering, sad, greedy, lonely, violent, mad, predatory, selfish, callous, cowardly, cruel, oblivious, deluded, and depressed people in this country, why do we still have life, most of us, better than most of the rest of the people in the world in terms or warmth, food, water, and life saving and enhancing systems.
Why is that? Is it because we are more deserving, more loving, better people? No.
It is because we have been lucky enough to live in a system of government set up 240 odd years ago by some very smart egalitarian, humanitarian, far-seeing people who sought to create a new nation made up of all the best ideas and the most free people, in a sectarian society not totally dominated by the religious and political hierarchies of the old orders around the world.
Our visionary, intelligent founders wanted to create out of whole cloth a new way of living, that grew out of the enlightenment that had recently swept away the ignorance, religious domination and systems of primogeniture that failed to value the individual’s right to a good life, personal freedom, and an equal chance to pursue happiness on the planet.
We have come a long way toward achieving those goals, but we have failed, in many ways, to bring about that vision. and we have a long way to go in building pathways for every living person here and around the world that wants those things. We have made a lot of mistakes, but we have also done many great things for humanity.
We need, each of us, to try anew and make this country and this world better, safer, more fair and more verdant than it has ever been. We need to save the environment of our planet and the dreams of the people on it for our children’s future, and for our own, and we need to recognize the rights and the humanity of every single person in this world equally.
We need to put aside our cynicism, greed, anger, fear, hopelessness, weakness, madness, laziness, and small-mindedness and create a new revolution, to carry forward the blessings those great men and women of the past handed down to us, with the greatness of their vision, sacrifices, and courage.
The terror we fear and the terror we inflict around the world upon those we fear can only be ended by good people trying to do good for others, with love, sharing, intelligence and faith in our common humanity. Join the revolution.
