Otis Blackwell wrote it. One of the major writers in the “white boys singing R&B” revolution of the mid fifties. He was a crazy good songwriter even though most of the white boys buying Elvis and Jerry Lee records never heard of him, and in fact although he wrote several biggies for Elvis, the two never met face to face.
