Starting A Cargo Ship Engine Is A Lot Harder Than You Think

Cool stuff

I saw a similar clip recently. I forget the ship’s name, and it only had an 8 foot stroke, but I think it has 16 cylinders, supposedly the largest such engine in existence. Very cool.

BTW, I read recently that the Queen Mary 2, the largest (and probably the last) transatlantic ocean liner gets about SIX INCHES per gallon of fuel when underway.

that’s what she said

Big boats need lots of torque lol

I saw a doc where they had to replace the engine and had to cut a gigantic hole in the side of the ship -
