Led Lights

Has anyone had any experience with using led lights indoors for the purpose of starting seedlings or growing plants?

Does anyone know what the light spectrum would be like?

Probably best off with just some cheap 4ft dual bulb fluorescent T-8 shop lights for starting seeds and growing foliage. They make some LED replacement bulbs for these that use a little less power but they also emit a little less light.

For foliage around 6500k is a good spectrum, for fruiting something you want more down around the 2400k temperature range and lots of it.

A T-5 will put out a little more light but you’ll have to pay more for it.

I looked at some T-5’s, but they were more than I was willing to spend for a few weeks of vegging. I ended up buying 4 cheap T-8’s at Walmart that were supposedly made just for growing. Total bullshit, no different than a standard shop light.

Yeah they charge more for the words “Grow light.”

They could have really cleaned up if they had called them “Organic Grow Light.”

To realy get top dollar they need to be certified fair trade/free range grow lights.

Also, they should be dipped in “Sea Salt.”
