Grandson of John Tyler 10th US President just died on September 26th. Who else here has a grandparent that was born in 1790?
Actually Lyon G Tyler JUNIOR. His brother Harrison Tyler is still alive as of this writing. Lyon Jr, was born in 1923 after Lyon Sr’s first wife died and he married a woman 35 years his junior. Lyon Sr. was born 1853, and died when Lyon Jr. was still a tyke.
Yes, I know. Thanks.
No problem, sorry if I pontificated. It was news to me and I did some supplemental reading as a result of your most enlightening OP. In my family we’ve had a couple more generations than in his since the time of his grandfather.
I did supplemental reading as well. The longevity of this family is pretty incredible. It’s hard to believe someone alive today can say my grandfather was born in the 18th century.
Esp. a fam. of such prominence.
'course if Lyon was born in 1928 and grandpappy was born in 1790, that’s 135 years apart, or a parental age averaging almost 70 years.
Which happened twice.
Edit:
Lyon Sr was born in 1853, so JT was 63 and Sr was 75.
Yes, but how common was it to even live into your 60’s and 70’s? Not very common…and current descendants are in their 90’s.
Americans were living into current standards of “old age” but average family size was much larger and there might be 7 children, but only 3 or 4 to reach adulthood.
Yean, you’re all correct. This isn’t an interesting story and I shouldn’t have posted it. Sorry.
I found it interesting.
Fuck you Apey!
