My old 4runner had it’s check engine light on when I bought it, but I took her word it was checked out by the dealer and an independent with a good rep, and they both said it was nothing to worry about, it stayed on for about the first 2 years I had it, then one day cruising down the road it just went off I almost ran off the road in shock and awe, then it came back on in a couple days later, then off, then on…anyhoo, now it’s off most of the time, but will now come on for a day or so every couple weeks, 99% of the check engine lights are just a random error code from an emission sensor like your gas had too much water or whatev., if the light comes on and the car is running ok, just ignore the light and take another slug of Elderberry and motor on Garth.
