He’s also iggied Robert Reich the libtard economist, and Clinton Cabinet member, for having the nerve to question Musk’s harsh treatment of Tesla Employees.

Well, when he was Six’s big hero a few years ago we all coulda predicted he’d turn out to be a maggot.

So sad, all this time I thought of him as my gruf,f but lovable older cousin.

That’s prolly still fair, assuming ya mean Six. But he had bad taste in heroes and prolly still does, plus of course nobody ever made this kinda money and stayed heroic.

Whether he buys it or not, Twitter has been having moderation issues for a long time. The tools they give us should be enough to moderate content ourselves but they don’t work.

Elon Musk is buying Twitter. Or has bought. Or whatever. That platform now has a new oligarch overlord and it will remain largely the same despite the hair pulling and the hand wringing.

Musk himself is declaring this to be a victory for free speech and the political right are up-bonered as they feel it will mean a return of Trump and the other trolls to the platform. Maybe it will, but it’s high time to recognize that Trump and Taylor-Greene and Bannon and their ilk were originally removed from Twitter, not to silence their needed-but-challenging voices, but for repeatedly violating the platform’s terms of service, and there is zero chance that Musk’s new company will find it possible to exist without some sort of terms of service that look very much like the ones they’re intending to replace as that monkey’s asshole supposedly champions the First Amendment.

Look, just start with the horse-fucking and the kiddie porn. You can’t have that on Twitter, right? So, ipso facto, you will have “terms of service.”

Reasonable leadership at the company also can’t allow threats of immediate violence. Nor will they want to allow users to mock the disabled, or promulgate racists material, or organize pogroms, or whatever.

In short order, no matter what today’s headline is, Musk’s Twitter will look very much like Jack’s Twitter - with the possible caveat that he will tolerate powerful people (like himself or President Trump) openly violating the Terms of Service of his own corporation.

That, in many ways, is what I expect will happen - and the world will be slightly uglier for it. It won’t be a more fair world. It won’t be a wiser world. It won’t even be a world that is “more free,” in any meaningful sense.

Twitter will simply revert to being yet another place wherein we peons live by one set of rules, while the undeserving nobility does whatever the fuck they want. So, yeah, it will be like everything else. That’s the whole point of stage-IV, metastatic capitalism, y’all. You. Lose.

This will be our reality until the dimwit lords accidently burn the whole thing down.

Or we do, on purpose.

Just saying.

Love to you all.

Sad Emoji. don’t forget it will be a powerful platform for him to sell product from, of which he has many, If he doesn’t burn it down, but Michael Tallon’s take sounds pretty reasoned.

Well that would be pretty awesome… Make Murica Productive Again

You gotta admit it’s pretty funny the right wing have embraced someone who believes that climate change is the world’s biggest problem, makes electric cars, has a non binary wife and they’re not gendering their child until the kid is old enough to decide for themself… and now he wants to legalize a hard drug, cocaine yeah… Just because they think he’s gonna let Trump back on Twitter and go wild with hate speech.
