Worm Gold Plus Pure Worm Castings

Our ultra-premium worm castings are produced by worms fed a specific diet rich in chitin, a substance that makes up the exo-skeletal matter of insects. In turn, the worms secrete chitinase, an enzyme which dissolves the chitin that bugs are made from. Plants fed this enzyme start producing their own inhibitory marking agent; when those pesky bugs subsequently sense the elevated chitinase levels, they are repelled! Thus, Killer-Kastings can aid your plants in deterring spider mites, aphids, whiteflies and other pests. Recent studies have confirmed that applying worm castings rich in chitinase to soil around plants increases production of this insect-repelling enzyme. After researching the benefits ourselves, we became convinced and found a super-casting with greatly concentrated chitinase levels. The result: Worm Gold Plus!

Our worms and their castings are also supplemented with extra soil super-chargers in the form of biodynamic humus and soluble kelp extract, along with colloidal rock dust and humic acids. This produces a truly superior casting, which will positively charge your soil with new life and give plants a mega-dose of beneficial biology. The potent quantities of beneficial microbes produced by the worms’ digestion help the elements in soil work together to create a healthy substrate and an optimum growing environment. By improving soil structure, Worm Gold Plus promotes better root zone oxygenation. Worm Gold Plus also provides a gentle blend of nutrition which plants can then feed on as needed for weeks on end. High quality castings are a great source of nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, calcium, magnesium, plus more than 50 trace minerals and micro-nutrients.

We recommend pre-mixing our castings with your soil or soilless mix before transplanting. Add 1/3 Worm Gold Plus to 2/3 soil. Alternatively, top-dress your existing garden as needed. Also excellent as an addition to compost teas or as a stand alone worm-tea. When Worm Gold Plus in your soil are activated with an aerobic super-tea like Boogie Brew the results are simply phenomenal! The biological activity in Worm Gold Plus makes them priceless. Nutrients are broken down faster and made more available to plants. Expect to see strong growth characteristics, visible improvements in plant vitality, lush foliar structure, healthier roots and flowers.

Dolomite Lime

Helps correct acidic soil environments. A great source of calcium and magnesium. Some people use the term “soil sweetener” to describe the pH correction.

I ended up buying some water soluble kelp from these guys a couple weeks ago, my houseplants seem to like it and they’re looking nice and healthy with some piss fertilizer and some kelp foliar spray, when they’re usually dying back this time of year. I also hit them once with an epsom salt foliar spray too.

Anyways, for like $17 I got like 1/2 lb of kelp powder, 1/4 a teaspoon per gallon for foliar spray… should last forever…

Too much work. What’s wrong with just using Miracle Gro? It contains all of that stuff.

Yeah it’s great if you hate your plants. lol

If you live near the coast you can make your own kelp juice, probably the best way to go…

We learned a lot about the beneficial properties of seaweed from Ernest Hogeboom, who used to be a professional gardener in the Pasadena, California, area. Hogeboom would collect several plastic trash bags of kelp from areas along the Pacific Coast. He would empty the kelp into a 55-gallon drum, fill it with water, and then cover it. As the seaweed began to decompose, the water would turn brown. Within about two months, the seaweed was fully decomposed. This liquid was used as a concentrate, which Hogeboom would then dilute with water before spraying it on or pouring it around his customers’ plants.

We’ve used this for our own garden service clients, with the addition of fish emulsion. Plants sprayed with this mixture seem more insect repellent, and generally show some renewed growth. The only pitfall is the fishy, oceany odor that is detectable for a day or two after the application.

The farm store here has some alfalfa cubes $14 for 50lb (not meal but I think it will work if broken up.)

Looking for some cheap sources/substitutes for some of this stuff. I want to try a raised bed of this type of soil next year.

I need to start a worm farm.

The nearest dealer is a good hour away but I might have to make a trip if their prices are good and they have the stuff (another big if.) Looks like they feed a lot of this stuff to livestock.

50lb bags of kelp meal, fish meal, some stuff called Aragonite (calcium), earthworm castings and a few other things.
